TEDxYouth@Flanders
One of our younger attendees wrote us an email about her experience at TEDxYouth @ Flanders. Here is what she had to say:
what is tedx?
-ted stands for Technology, Education and Design. two weekends ago, there was a ted event in flanders, belgium. But this event was different- it was a tedx kids event- meaning that it wasnt for adults but it was for kids. I, Hannah, went there and I will tell you all about it.
what did I do?
In ted, you could choose two courses to do. I chose "my machine" and "scribble school." my machine was about, obviously, machines, as it says in the name. but this course was about designing machines- your dream machine. I made the "magic pencilcase" which you will hear all about later.
scribble school was about drawing. in scribble school we learned different techniques of drawing and we also learned about other things. we also played pictionary! that was fun.
how it went- my machine
in my machine we started off by splitting into groups and making a simple mindmap of what we liked and disliked, including sports, animals, hobbies, etc. after we created our mindmaps, we started working on our machine. we made our machines independently. my machine was the magic pencil case. the magic pencil case was voice activated so all you had to do is speak into the speaker what you want, for example, if you wanted a blue crayon you would say- I want a blue crayon please.- it would bring it out for you and you wouldnt have to make a move.
also, the magic pencil case has a music player, the internet and a camera. it really is magic! after we made our machines we had a vote who's was best. I was the second youngest person at the table and I won! because I won, I had to stand out infront of EVERYONE WHO HAD COME TO TEDx and explain what it was! AAAAAH!
how it went- scribble school
in scribble school we played pictionary, but instead of erasing our pictures everytime we left it on there to form a story. we had to draw our next pictures so that they coordinated with the other ones. it was quite hard at times!
thankyou for reading.
HAVE A NICE DAY
